Messier scored 45 goals with career highs in assists (84) and points (129) in 79 games for the Oilers in 1989-90, winning the Hart Trophy as the league's Most Valuable Player.
Messier, a six-time Stanley Cup winner and Hockey Hall of Famer, scored 36 goals with 48 assists in 71 games during his final season with the Rangers in 1996-97. Messier scored 694 goals and had 1,193 assists in 1,756 NHL games. He ranks third all-time in assists and points (1,887) and second all-time in goals.
