Sheary wore this jersey on January 14, 2023 during a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

For the first time in his career, Sheary played all 82 games of the 2022-23 season. He put up 15 goals, good for fourth on the team, and made 22 assists. Sheary played in his 500th career game in a win over his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, on January 26, 2023.

The Capitals once again implemented the "Screaming Eagle" for their second iteration of Reverse Retros, this time incorporating the black, blue and bronze base of their Capitol Building alternate from their late 1990s and early 2000s alternates. An added twist is the diagonal stripe from that era's home and away jerseys that was not originally part of that black alternate, along with the asymmetrical sleeve stripes. And once again, it hit big as one of the most popular Reverse Retro styles in the league.
