On January 1, 2008, a wintry white Buffalo, New York played hearty hosts to a game to remember at Ralph Wilson Stadium. In front of the largest crowd, at that time, to ever watch a National Hockey League game, 71,217 hearty hockey fans who braved the 32-degree temperature and game-long snow flurries, the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 2-1, in a shootout.

The Penguins and Sabres honored their pasts by donning Throwback uniforms for the game. The Penguins wore the powder blue uniforms that dated to the early 1970s. The Sabres donned the royal blue and gold uniforms they wore from their inception in 1970-71 through 1995-96.

This powder blue Throwback jersey was worn by Penguins team captain and future hall-of-famer Sidney Crosby during the second period of the 2008 NHL Winter Classic.

A LOA from the NHL-MeiGray Game Worn Jersey Program will accompany this jersey.
