These retro jerseys were inspired by the uniforms of the Pittsburgh Pennies, a professional women's hockey team founded in 1972. Multiple Pennies players were on hand to drop the first puck of the game as the Whale celebrated them while playing the fourth-ever game at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Pittsburgh.
