Mark Messier wore this blue jersey while playing for the Edmonton Oilers during the 1980-81 National Hockey League season. It includes the Alberta 75th Anniversary patch, worn during the calendar year 1980 to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Canadian province.

Messier played in 72 games during the 1980-81 season, his second in the NHL, scoring 23 goals with 40 assists. He added two goals and five assists in nine games during the 1981 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In 12 years with the Oilers, Messier scored 392 goals with 642 assists in 851 games. The two-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner and the 1984 Conn Smythe Trophy winner ranks third all-time in career assists with 1,193 and in points with 1,887. His 694 goals rank ninth all-time.
